Sealed traffic surfaces such as highways and freeways usually offer unshaded space suitable for electricity production. Previous attempts to install solar panels on roadways were unsuccessful because the disadvantages of such systems were too severe. But why don't we install systems above the roadway in a safe and cost-effective way?
With the Solar Traffic Route Element, expressways and highways can be sensibly opened up for solar energy generation. The universal mounting allows all photovoltaic modules to be installed and offers not only an efficient energy supply but also a reduction in noise emissions and heat protection in summer.
Proven skeleton construction
The basis for the Solar Traffic Route Element is a steel or concrete structure equipped with special, inclinable mounts for PV modules. In this way, the modules can follow the course of the sun and have a higher energy yield than simply elevated modules.
Lightning smoke extraction, emergency opening and snow protection
In case of fire, the PV modules are immediately tilted so that the fire cannot spread over a large area in the underpass. In parallel, an opening of the side elements contributes to a safe escape to the outside area.
Even in winter, the tilting arrangement of the PV modules leads to high efficiency of electricity production. If snow falls on the construction, it slides off the tilted PV modules. These can thus generate energy again.
